Gulfport, Miss., offers the best bargains for home buyers interested in a beach town, according to realtor.com®’s 2018 rankings of the most affordable beach towns. Home shoppers who want to live near a beach will find a median list price of $184,100 in Gulfport.
Many Americans may dream of living on the ocean, but the high price tag of many waterfront homes may be holding them back. Realtor.com® researchers identified a handful of markets that offer the lowest costs for beachside living. They analyzed home listings on realtor.com® that included the word “ocean” in more than 900 of the largest housing markets in the country. They pinpointed the towns with the lowest median list prices from April 2017 to May 2018.
Rounding out the list of most affordable beach towns in 2018 are:
- Jacksonville, N.C.
Median home list price: $184,600
- Aberdeen, Wash.
Median home list price: $208,400
- Atlantic City, N.J.
Median home list price: $229,800
- Myrtle Beach, S.C.
Median home list price: $234,800
- Corpus Christi, Texas
